On September 22 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the draft law on stimulation of production of thermal energy from alternative sources of energy (reg. No. 4334 from 30.03.2016). During the voting there was not one vote against.
The purpose of the bill is to stimulate heat production from alternative sources and to provide the investors with guarantees of return of investments in heat production "not out of gas," writes portal.
The draft Law provides for the establishment of tariffs for heat generated from RES at 90% of the current tariff for heat from gas for the needs of public institutions and population as well as the transfer of responsibilities for tariff setting and licensing activities for the production, transportation and supply of heat generated from alternative sources to local authorities.
"This bill is extremely important for Ukraine, because it will become a tool to reduce gas dependence. Its adoption will create favorable conditions for investors and businesses to generate heat from alternative sources will annually reduce natural gas consumption by more than 3 billion m3 and leave the state's economy at least 15 billion a year, and given the multiplier effect – more than 75 billion UAH." - commented on the benefits of the bill, the Chairman of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk.
The adoption and implementation of the bill will contribute to reducing the cost of thermal energy tariffs for consumers, will create 25 thousand new jobs, hundreds of new enterprises of small and average business.
